Nš 0001 - This first badge is approx' 30 mm high and 25 mm wide. I have had it in my collection for years with no luck in finding out the history. It is a a wreath surrounding a coat-of-arms, with a KC above it. It is gilded and darkened bronze. The COA's has the legend "SCIENCE AT HOME" and "42". Also on this COA's is a large "S" and crossed miners hammers. The maker marks is Birks-Ellis, (Toronto), with a vertical brooch pin fitting. Additional info from Non-member Dave St Onge, Kingston Pen. Museum. The COA's in the centre is Queen's University, Faculty of Mining. 42' is 1942. Now all we need to know is what is it.

Nš 0002 - This first button is in very poor condition. It appears to be one piece construction and I would put a date of between 1790 and about 1840. Some identifying features are the lack of a fouled rope and the anchor ring laid down on the shank. These features are scarce in the Royal Navy and the early US Navy. Possible Merchant Navy.

Nš 0003 - This red RCN button needs a slot to file it. It 100% red plastic, even the loop and 14 mm diameter. It is similar to the white officer's mess stewards. As it it KC and has a "modern" plastic loop, I'd date it 1940's to 1952. Can anyone tell me which ratings wore it. What, where and when ?

Nš 0005 - This winged star is a mystery. One suggestion was Chile. Let me know if you recognize it.

Nš 0006 - This insignia is a wreath with VLB in the centre. My gut feels it is perhaps something to do with the Dutch Air Force. Let me know if you recognize it.

Nš 0007 - This Canada Militia button appears from time to time but to date no printed record has be found showing this type. Please, can someone tell me what dates this button was used ?
